Last night I attended the Miss Pulaski Pageant! Laine Berry was the emcee for the night and did a fabulous job! The performances from local titleholders were phenomenal! This pageant was very well ran and organized thanks to the wonderful directors, Rusty and Lori Hart. Each of the contestants did an amazing job!
I want to congratulate Daley Johnston on winning Miss Pulaski last night! She was such a joy to watch throughout the competition and her excitement during the crowning was absolutely priceless! This will be her first time to Miss Arkansas this summer and I know she will represent Pulaski very well! I am so happy I have gotten to know her better through the pageant system. She is such a beautiful girl inside and out!
I also want to congratulate the runner ups! Mary Scarlett Sherwood placed 1st runner up, Bethany Smith was 2nd, Connie Jones placed 3rd runner up and Paige Davis was 4th. What a wonderful pageant!

2012 Miss Black and Gold Pageant
My first appearance as Miss University of Central Arkansas was judging the 2012 Miss Black and Gold Pageant. This pageant was held at UCA and sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. 15 young women competed for this title. The areas of competition were swimsuit, talent, evening gown, onstage question and interview. Each of the young women were talented, smart and beautiful! I enjoyed getting to hear about their platforms and how they planned to make a difference in the lives of others. Jasmine Harris won the title of Miss Black and Gold which will advance her to compete in the Miss Black and Gold Arkansas District Pageant. She was also awarded an $800 scholarship!
Pageants are an excellent opportunity for young women to develop life skills. I enjoyed talking to the contestants about their reasons in entering and how they have developed throughout preparing for Miss Black and Gold. Many contestants mentioned wanting to go on to compete in the Miss Arkansas Pageant System and I certainly hope they do!
Congratulations to Jasmine and all of the contestants! I greatly enjoyed my experience and involvement with the pageant!

Miss University of Central Arkansas 2013
On Novemeber 9, I was blessed with the opportunity to represent the University of Central Arkansas for the upcoming year, as well as at Miss Arkansas this summer. This truly is a dream come true for me! The Miss UCA pageant was the very first pageant I ever entered. Throughout the preparation for the pageant I realized this system was so much more than just the performance. This system really would give me the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. I did not win the crown that year, but competed the following year and was able to hold a different title and while doing so develop a platform that I could really put my heart into.
(With Miss Arkansas, Sloane Roberts and Miss University of Central Arkansas 2012, Morgan Holt)
This was the third time I competed for Miss UCA before winning. Some people would have given up before then, but the Miss Arkansas pageant system has been such a blessing on my life I have been honored the represent it with any title. I also won the early bird award for being the first contestant to have my forms turned in correctly and on time, the crowd favorite award, and evening gown award. Tony Bowls and Laine Berry at the Royal We deserve all the credit for the fabulous evening gown! My persistence to be Miss UCA has taught me that with hard work and dedication I can reach my goal.
(My new family, the Miss University of Central Arkansas Board of Directors)
I was sponsored by the men of Beta Upsilon Chi. BYX is a Christian fraternity on campus and I highly respect all they do. I had many friends and family at the pageant supporting me that night. I honestly have never felt so overwhelmed with encouragement as I did that night. I could make out distinct voices cheering for me, which only made me more confident in what I was doing. I am also thankful for everyone who helped me prepare for the pageant and supported me the entire way.
I am so excited about representing the school I love this upcoming year as Miss University of Central Arkansas! I am honored to work with such an amazing director and board who will push me to succeed and be my very best. Keep up with my blog to follow my journey! I know it will be a wonderful experience! :)
