Speaking to the Children at Theodore Jones Elementary

May 10 I visited Theodore Jones Elementary School in Conway. I spoke with 100 third graders about my platform, Giving Children Hope Through A Smile. I talked to them about my involvement in the Miss Arkansas Pageant, what Operation Smile is, what I have done for Operation Smile, what they can do for Operation Smile, and My trip to the Children's Home in Honduras. I enjoy speaking to children about the children in Honduras, because the children always want to know what they can do to help them. However, when I spoke to the children at the home in Honduras about Operation Smile, they wanted to know how to help those children. I also taught the children at Theodore Jones about proper dental care and gave each child a dental kit. Each kit contained a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a timer. The children absolutely loved it and I was so happy to be able to put a smile on their faces. My favorite part of the day was when I walked into the school. There was a little boy in the hallway who asked me, "Are you the queen?" I laughed and told him no, I am Miss South Arkansas and will compete this summer in the Miss Arkansas Pageant. He responded, "Well you look like the queen!" I loved talking with each of the children both individually and as a group. I hope to visit them again next year.
